Laurence Warner Inki showcased this amazing WWII project at a Fulbright open mic I played at (youtu.be/BObyB2hkCaY).
She curates a gorgeous ambient soundscape with lovely attention to detail.
I just wanted more of it! Favorite track: Branded a Whore.

about

The cover of Quite the Situation vinyl comes to life through augmented reality.

Quite the Situation is composed of three elements – this album release , a book work , and an installation premiered at The Reykjavik Arts Festival. They fold into one another, creating a three dimensional story, tied together with the strings of time and yet unbound by it.

The material for Quite the Situation is drawn from articles written by Icelanders between 1940 and 1945 about Icelandic women‘s relationship with US/UK soldiers.

The subject matter of the work is the writings of Icelanders from the “Situation”. The work, however, does not deal with the Situation. Rather, it is a conversation about the present with the language of the past. It‘s a conversation about the present, using the language of the past.

The names of the tracks are all sentences from these articles.

Recently, I released a project called Quite the Situation, it‘s an album, book work, and a video + audio installation.
